Three ways to Edit Your MIDI

Keep what was played. Fix what got lost. Add what was never there.

Replace

“Convert what was played.”

StrumWorks Studio detects the original drum and bass notes from your stems and converts each note into MIDI, while keeping the original timing and dynamics.

Example: replace the kick and snare in the chorus, note for note.

Repair

“Replace what was missing.”

When poor stem separation loses a sound, ReDrum intelligently suggests the missing notes from phrases that repeat in the section and in matching sections.

Example: the hi-hats that disappeared or went missing during stem separation filled back in from the groove.

Generate

“Choose a different pattern.”

When the stems fail to supply a usable part, or if you just want a different one, select a preset from one of our built-in grooves or auto-generate a new drum fill.

Example: select a measure and generate a drum fill.

All three can live in one song, even in one bar. Every note stays editable afterwards.

Inside StrumWorks Studio

StrumWorks Studio adapts to your virtual instruments.

Same performance, different kit

Load any drum or bass virtual instrument and Studio maps it for you so you don't need to move the MIDI notes.

StrumWorks already auto maps to the most popular drum and bass libraries when you load from one of our templates. Third-party instruments are sold separately and not affiliated with StrumWorks.

ReBass with Kontakt 8 loaded: the instrument menu is open on Key Switch Layout, listing vendors such as Ample Sound, IK Multimedia, Impact Soundworks, Orange Tree Samples, Spectrasonics, Submission Audio and Toontrack, with Submission Audio’s ShinzBass layout checked.
Pick your library’s key switch layout from the instrument menu.

Compare your virtual instrument with the original

Quickly toggle between your virtual instrument and the original source audio in isolation. Easily match your instrument’s tone and performance to the original recording.

ReBass · Articulations

Play it the way the bassist did

Leave Articulation on Auto, or choose how the notes are played: index or middle finger, ghost notes, hand mutes, harmonics, slap and pop, tapping, hammer-ons and pull-offs, slides and more.

Each articulation maps automatically to the bass instrument you have loaded, so the right sound plays without setting up key switches by hand.

ReDrum and ReBass · Dynamics

Tighter dynamics, without losing the feel

Most editors give you one humanize or compress knob. Studio splits velocity into three separate decisions, so a part can become more consistent without becoming less expressive.

Smooth

How evenly should each hit repeat, bar to bar?

Smooth evens out notes that are either too loud or too quiet, without destroying their function.

Range

How much contrast between soft and loud?

Range controls the distance between soft and loud notes. Widen it for more contrast, or narrow it to even out the whole performance.

Level

How hard should the part play overall?

Level raises or lowers the velocity of the entire performance, so you don't have to adjust notes one by one.

ReBass

Bass as notes, locked to your drums

ReBass detects each bass note and lays it out on a piano roll under the bass audio, with the kick and snare alongside. Smart Quantize tightens the timing while keeping legato joins joined and intentional gaps open, and slides and mutes are chosen by name from the note menu.

Your kick and snare hits sit in their own lanes right under the bass waveform, so you can see and hear where each bass note should land, then use Snap to lock it to the drums.

Music charts for the musician in multiple formats.

ReChart charts the entire song from the same project. It detects the chords and lines up the lyrics you supply with the vocal, so your chart is ready to export in your favorite format.

Export a chart the singer can read

Turn the song into a lyric and chord chart in one step. Transpose it to the singer’s key, choose a layout for print, tablet or scrolling, add guitar chord diagrams, and fit the PDF to one to four pages on Letter or A4.

Automatic lyric alignment works with English lyrics and needs the optional Lyrics Tools download. ReChart doesn’t write lyrics or melody notation.

What’s in the free demo?

Everything except export. You can import, edit, audition and save real songs with no time limit. When you buy, your license unlocks MIDI export to your DAW, MIDI out and chart exports, and the songs you started in the demo keep working.

Does Studio separate a mix into stems?

No. Studio starts from stems you already have: multitrack recordings, or stems you separated with another tool. Separate drum stems (kick, snare, hats and so on) give the most detailed results.

Do I need my own virtual instruments?

Yes. Studio loads the drum and bass virtual instruments you already own and maps them automatically, so you can audition your part through them and export MIDI that uses that instrument’s map. Switch to a different library at any time without changing the MIDI, for drums or bass.

Is it only for songs made with AI?

No. Studio works with conventional recordings, multitracks and separated stems. If you made a cover or arrangement in an AI music service, you can bring its stems in too. Studio itself doesn’t use AI to write your parts.

What do I get in the MIDI export?

A whole-song MIDI file with a track per drum plus bass, tempo information, section markers and the articulations from your chosen instrument maps. Your DAW’s import settings decide how tracks and tempo come in.
