Earshot Privacy Policy

Your conversations stay on your phone unless you choose to share them.

Recording and transcription

Earshot records audio, transcribes speech, and detects speakers on your iPhone. It does not upload recordings or transcripts to an Earshot transcription server. No Earshot account is required. Once a speech model is installed, transcription can work without internet access.

Recordings and transcripts are stored in the app's private storage. Earshot applies iOS file protection; active recording files remain writable while your phone is locked so a recording can continue. Protection does not prevent access on an unlocked or compromised phone or erase copies already shared.

Optional processing

Earshot's optional cleanup, summaries, translation, action items, transcript questions, title suggestions, structured notes, and term explanations use Apple's on-device model. Earshot does not fall back to a cloud service when that model is unavailable. Original transcripts remain saved separately from generated versions.

When you deliberately share text with an external AI service, app, person, or shortcut, that destination receives the content you provide and handles it under its own terms. Earshot does not automatically send transcripts to external AI services. Use only destinations approved for confidential information.

Downloads

Optional speech models require internet access. Download requests do not contain recordings or transcripts. Hosting providers receive network information such as your IP address as part of serving the download. Models are downloaded from Hugging Face and its delivery infrastructure. See Hugging Face’s privacy policy for its handling of network and service data. Earshot does not control those providers’ retention.

Copies, backups, and deletion

Your device backups may include recordings and transcripts, depending on your backup settings. Downloaded models and temporary AI request copies are excluded from backup by the app.

Earshot's own Copy text action sets a five-minute clipboard expiry and disables Universal Clipboard for that copy. Copy actions supplied by the iOS share sheet follow the system's rules.

Temporary exports are removed after the share sheet closes, with leftover temporary files cleaned on a later launch. Copies saved by another app remain under that app's control. Deleting a recording from Earshot does not remove exported copies or historical backups and is not a guarantee of forensic erasure.

Diagnostics and feedback

Earshot does not include an advertising or analytics SDK and does not intentionally log transcript contents. iOS and TestFlight can collect diagnostic and beta feedback information. Feedback you choose to send may include screenshots, attachments, and contact information. Do not include confidential content in feedback.

If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever information or attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond and troubleshoot. We retain support messages and received diagnostic reports only as long as needed to resolve issues and meet legal obligations. You can request access, correction, or deletion by emailing support@strumworksstudio.com. We cannot delete recordings held only on your device or copies controlled by another service.
